Evelyn Wolff | Art is Her Medicine

Evelyn Wolff, MD Cert.GP Psychotherapy, has balanced a life in the healing arts as a holistic physician and educator, with that of being the designer at Wolff's Glass Studio in Toronto, Northern Ontario, Peterborough and where she winters in Mazatlán, Mexico. Her unique artistry combines a finely tuned colour sensibility, with a solid apprenticeship in the European tradition of stained glass with Robert Jeckyl, through Sheridan College in Toronto. Independent studies at Ontario College of Art include three dimensional design, low relief glass casting, silk-screening, and glass painting, with Shirley Fineblit and Allan Stein.

These skills also informed her flair for innovative design and engineering, stretching the limits of this crystalline medium, while celebrating the beauty of both her inner visions and the natural environment she loves.

Evelyn’s unique, intricate jewel-like personal pieces are attuned to the client or complement architectural concepts. She chooses lustrous hand-blown glass imported from Europe, and from the most expressive glass America has to offer. The work is assembled by Simon Meinecke and Harold Foster in Canada and Taller Vitrales in Mazatlán, Mexico. All use same time-consuming but visually rewarding copper-foil technique. As well she has worked with respected artists and artisans from Mariposa, and Du Verre Glass, in Toronto, Knapp's Glass Studio, Muskoka, and with Cherished Stained Glass' master glass painter, Cheryl Goleski, from Barrie.

The radiance of the resultant art form, uplift the viewer into the joyous dance of light and colour, that is the fruit of Evelyn's continuing dedication to life.
